EPA (Environmental Protection Agency)

The mission of the Picayune Rancheria of the Chukchansi Indians Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is to protect human health and safety, cultural resources, protecting and enhancing ecosystems and the natural environment on the Rancheria. The Environmental Office is supports a variety of activities including:

• Environmental protection
• Non-point source pollution
• Transportation planning
• Historic preservation
• Wetlands protection
• Clean water act
• Fire protection

The Picayune Rancheria of the Chukchansi Indians Environmental Office (EPA) was established in 1999 with the help of EPA’s General Assistance Program (GAP) Grant. This led to an establishment of an office and personnel. Since 1999, we have completed a number of projects and activities associated with protecting or preserving the natural environment on the Rancheria:

• Environmental Assessment (EA)
• Emergency Notification Plan (ENP)
• Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP)
• Environmental Codes and Ordinances
• Dump site clean-up on the Rancheria
• Tribal Environmental Plan (TEP)
• GIS Mapping capabilities
• Water Testing Program
